Irish Road Trip (RLM)
We generally combine a one-week small boat cruise with a week-long road trip when we visit internationally. We will soon be posting maps and more on our Irish trip, so do return in October. Our travel feature will be posted at http://www.greatriver.com/waterwaycruises in October as well.
Key to having a successful road trip in Ireland is a GPS in your rental car!!! We also chose zero liability insurance, which made our driving experience nearly worry free.

Berths on the famine ship, DONBRODY, in New Ross. County Waterford. During Ireland's "potatoe famine" in the mid-nineteenth century, a million Irish died of starvation and more than a million left the country on what were described as "coffin ships." The DONBRODY is a living history ship which exemplifies the crowded conditions on these boats. 4 adults might be assigned to these 6x10' berths... or an entire family of 4-8 people!
